Agribusiness investment forum

In Astana today the Agribusiness investment forum “AgroInvest Forum 2017” is held organized by the Ministry of agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan jointly with “KazAgro” National management holding. The event gathered more than 200 participants from 18 countries of the world including about 40 representatives of the large foreign investment funds and financial organization, as well as representatives of Kazakhstan and foreign agribusiness.
       Main goal of the forum is assistance to Kazakhstan business in searching partners for joint implementation of projects in agriculture and food production, attraction of investment capital to the industry, discussion of new trends and prospects for doing business in agribusiness complex. On the investment forum besides business networking range of problem issues were discussed which may resist effective cooperation of domestic business with foreign partners and investors.
        “As the Head of the State noted the agriculture should become a new driver of economy. For this purpose we shall diversify production of competitive agricultural products that are in demand on the markets”, - said in his welcome speech the Deputy Prime-Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan – the Minister of agriculture Askar Myrzakhmetov. According to the Minister under the conditions of integration processes Kazakhstan requires transfer of international best practices to achieve competitive advantages. Attraction of direct foreign investments and establishment of joint productions in agriculture on a mutually beneficial basis is our goal today.
       As it is known, Kazakhstan achieved positive results in the field of efficiency of state regulation and investors support. And is rightfully considered one of the leaders among CIS countries for favorable conditions to implement investment activity.
       Invest in Kazakhstan – and you will have an opportunity to enter the huge market of China, Russia and EEU countries – noted the head of the institution.
The Chairman of the Executive Board of “KazAgro” National management holding Nurlybek Malelov marked that only for the last 5 years “KazAgro” and its subsidiary companies attracted to agribusiness complex more than $ 1.3 billion, EUR 600 million and about RUB 1.5 billion, and summarily more than KZT 375 billion of foreign investments. According to the head of the Holding, in Kazakhstan there is a wide variety of preferences for international investors such as sectoral preferences in kind of subsidies, loans and other incentives, relief from customs duties during implementation of priority investment projects and others. “The current legal framework of agrarian sector of Kazakhstan economy satisfies the requirements of market economy, standards of international practice and is aimed at protection and support of entrepreneurial initiative that is confirmed by ratings of Doing Business”, - said Nurlybek Malelov.
        Traditionally, such industries as dairy and meat livestock, production of oil crops and other popular crops and their further processing have large reserves for production ramp-up. We also separately note the possibility of organic production.
         Along with it, at the moment the ministry implements the targeted export policy. For this purpose the Export center of agribusiness complex was established which deals with establishment of new and expansion of existing export channels, forms large export consignments. A range of agreements has been already signed with the companies of China to export wheat, oil crops, vegetable oil; signing of agreements with the companies of the Arab Emirates and Iran is working out to supply lens; negotiations are held with the companies of Russia, Israel, Hong-Kong to supply sunflower seeds, hard wheat, flour, chickpea, pea, mutton.
         It is planning to open up access to the Chinese market of beef, pork, dairy products, poultry products, live animals including horses.
The Ministry of agriculture jointly with the Ministry of foreign affairs negotiates with veterinary services of Israel, Kuwait about the possibility to supply Kazakhstan mutton, and Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, countries of the European Union to export dry mare’s milk.
Negotiations with other countries of the Persian Gulf are completing.
       It should be noted that by the results of the Agribusiness Investment Forum important agreements and memorandums were signed to attract investments to agricultural sector of Kazakhstan to support its economic diversification.
