Since the beginning of the year prices for vegetable oil, buckwheat and rice have decreased
Summer is in full swing, In the markets there is a traditional increase in the supply of vegetables and fruits. But, nevertheless, groceries, refers to essential goods. How does seasonality influence the grocery market?
In the period from January to July this year, the following dynamics of retail prices for basic grocery groceries is observed.
Sugar is a seasonal product. At the beginning of the year, it was cheaper, if in January the average price for sugar was 252 tenge / kg, in April its average cost decreased to 236 tenge / kg. But by the summer the demand for sugar is growing, so the creeping price growth for sweet product is observed up to 253 tenge / kg in July (+ 7%).
For seven months, the premium flour + 4%, wheat bread (+ 3%), pasta (+ 2%) slightly increased in price. The rise in price of products is associated with higher tariffs for utilities.
On the contrary, prices fell on buckwheat (-14%), rice (-5%) and vegetable oil (-6%), which is associated with an increase in supply and expansion of product range.
In the summer, eggs are also cheaper, the average price in Kazakhstan is 200 tenge per dozen (-32%).
In the meat products market, the prices for beef, lamb, horse meat and chicken continue to grow. The growth in the cost of beef and mutton since the beginning of the year at 15%, on horse meat + 13%, for chicken meat + 2%. In general, the rise in price of meat in the current year contributed to higher prices for feed and fuel. Also in the summer period there is a decrease in the number of livestock intended for slaughter, which in turn led to a decrease in the volume of product shipments to the market.
